Thanks for your response. The best laid plans, etc., etc., but I'm glad I asked. I'll have to get back to the maps. As I recall, that route had some pretty sustained grades, but I would bet it was a shorter run. I know you mentioned that at least in some places, Rt. 26 has been built over the old RR alignment. Other than the switchbacks, is that pretty much the case all the way into PC from Dixie Summit?

PS - No, I haven't yet made it over into the Blue Mtns. I have been slowly doing my best to visit every Tourist RR, RR museum, and old n.g. ROW - that I possibly can. The SVRy has been on my "must see" list ever since I first read about in Mixed Train Daily - in the early 60s. Your preservation efforts have only increased that desire. The only delay now is opportunity.
