Hi, Phil -
The moon is up two hours later on the 25th vs the 23rd - not rising until well after sunset,
probably while the passengers are having dinner at Osier. IMHO, all the C&TS moonlight
trains should run two days
prior to the full moon, regardless of the day of the week.
HOWEVER, for August this year only, Earl has stated that the SL&RG is working on a special train for Thursday, August 26, so there should be more fans staying in Alamosa than usual on the 25th, and it's only about a 40 minute drive from Alamosa to Antonito
... Perhaps, as you have suggested, the C&TS should run its moonlight train on August 25 - between Railfest and the SL&RG special - and from Antonito to Osier rather than from Chama.
I wonder if the SL&RG would run a late afternoon train from Alamosa to Antonito - perhaps offering wine & cheese tasting en route - and wait to head back to Alamosa until after the C&TS train returns, offering desert, etc., on this late train to Alamosa?? It's rather short notice, but if I know Earl, he's a guy who can Get 'Er Done!! HHHhhhmmmmmm
...
