Jerry, I DO get involved, I have spent my two weeks of vacation each summer for over a decade helping preserving a piece of our history working with many great people of like minds. I also call and motivate others to do the same. I cannot fight every battle myself, so I pick the ones that I feel I can contribute the most to saving. We all should do what we can and not just sit on our butts telling others what they should be doing.

As far as the park service, I think the research is important, but that train is in their care in this instance, and it pains me that they can find the money to do the documentation, but not the stabilization. $250,000.00 will buy alot of paint and labor to preserve what's left while waiting for a more thorough preservation.
