Braswell was No. 2 in the engine service in Gunnison-Montrose area. Montrose engineer W.P. Price Was No. 1. Braswell probably bid this run because of the possiblity earning more money.
This reminds me of a non narrow gauge story. Rio Grande switch foreman Gene Ebrecht lived in the next block from me in Pueblo when I grew up. He always bid the 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. shift because of a large number of freight trains that came in at that time. He could usually count on four hours of overtime each night.
