Maybe we are talking about #5511 diesels from two different eras. The CRRM book "Locomotives of the Rio Grande" lists #5511 as an EMD FTA, renumbered from the articulated 4 unit 551 on 2/7/1950. It was traded in to EMD on 12/7/62 on a GP30. After that date the number would have been vacant and an SD60 could well have inheirated it.
