Just to clarify...Apparently they had flanged from Cumbres to Chama the day before therefore the flanger was not really needed on this leg. Plus, leaving the flanger behind the second engine would make switching easier at Cumbres, right! 483 could drop off the tank cars in the siding and then the flanger train would be off for sidings and such that needed clearing between Chama and Alamosa!!!
Nice pic for sure. I used to sell those books by Gildersleeve and Huxtable, which were fairly reasonable...maybe $14.95 if I remember right. Got tired of fooling with them when some guy returned one cause it had slight slight crimp on a corner after shipping.
I would suggest someone post a link to Tom Gildersleeve in the event someone might want to get this nice book, which also has some good John West images. Its softback cover. Tom has been good to me allowing us to use some images on our dvd covers(4449 and SP older stuff). I believe he still has some books left as well as some slide sets, but not sure if the NG ones still exist for sale.
