Interesting. But it makes sense, as C&S #9's 1901(+/-1yr) is also a lap seam design.
The Florence and Cripple Creek, like the other roads into the District, certainly had nice equipment: (then) modern AC&F cars and Schenectady 4-6-0s. Given the choice of riding over any portion of the Rio Grande or Phantom Canyon...I'd pick Phantom Canyon.
