OK Chris...no one is biting on this post...so I will.
As I've said many times before (yes I know, too many) I grew up in a D&RGW standard gauge outfit car. My father worked the D&RGW for 35 years. When I turned 6 we moved to a TOWN so I could stay in one school. I thought my fun railroad days were over, and they kind of were....until 1966 when my Dad was assigned temporary duty to repair track between Durango and Silverton. It was during the summer...I was out of school....so guess where I went. We lived in an outfit car and were set out near the power plant. WOW...what an amazing summer. Even though I was 12 years old, I could still play trains....with steam again! We lived at Tennessee Pass for a short time in the mid 50's and I can "almost" remember the Rio Grande steam up there. When my Mother heard a STEAM ENGINE coming, she would hurry to take the newly washed clothes off the clothes line....or she'd get to wash it again. As a result, the D&RGW is very special to me, and the C&TS and D&S lines are still there to bring back those memories.
