Cheap shots are not my game, Dick.
Nor is 'carping' about the RGRPC. But a lot of us wish that YOU and Mr. Craft would stick to what you do best, whatever that is.
I invite the readers to recall that Mr. Cowles and Mr. Craft are the guys who are wasting time and money trying to take my web domain away from me.
Mr. Cowles is right about one thing. On June 5, I said 40,000 passengers. Ay least I had the good sense to hope I was wrong. On Aug. 12th I predicted 52,500 riders. I still hoped it was better.
Mr. Cowles wonders why I listen to the radio and get the counts. I wonder why he is so obseessed with everything I say on The Goat. I'm a resident of Chama. I have an abiding interest in the future of the railroad. A lot of people in Chama listen to it. Since the RGRPC only raely publish numbers it's the only way we have a clue what is really going on.
Yes, my ridership figurez do not include those that the RGRPC radio does not report. The 2,000 or so 'short trip' riders that don't really amount to much contribution to the bottom line.
So, with YOUR numbers, you may make 55,000. Barely. But just a few weeks ago you were predicting 60,000.
Your comment about the Parlour car is hilarious.
Before you try to total up the contribution to the bottom line, tell us how much it cost to build it, how much it costs to staff it and stock it, and tell us how many times we had to run a double header just to pull the damn thing up the hill half-full, and what THAT cost.
No matter what you say, Dick; it is still my opinion that had the RGROC approached marketing and conputer systems as essential items that should be handled by professionals, not amateurs, the bottom line could have been truly astounding. As it is, we have yet another mediocre year.
Ah, what MIGHT have been!
