My estimate is 52,500, which is what I said 3 months ago. It is very disappointing to hear you lay the entire blame for lackluster numbers on the terrorist attacks. Face it. The marketing program didn't live up to expectations.
In the weeks following the attacks you have seen a rush of regional travelers that IMHO nearly balances out the cancellations from long-distance travelers.
Based on trends reported, there is NO WAY that you could have made 60,000 riders, with or without the terrorism.
Based on what is reported on the radio, On Sept 11, you had 38,280 riders. To make 60,000, you would have to AVERAGE 517 a day from then until the end of the season. To make 55,000, you would have to average 418 a day from then until the end.
As of today, the number is 49,546. To make 55,000, you will need to average 420 passengers a day for the next 13 days. Ain't gonna happen. It's about to snow in Chama, the trees are fading, and it's cold.
Let's hope we can do a better job of marketing next year.
