We are currently in the very slow process of doing a cosmetic restoration on the 195. Part of the work will include stabilizing deterioration to bearings and other sensitive areas, and evaluating how much operating life is left in the boiler currently. The engine has already been removed of asbestos, and the remains of the jacket and domes are stored. One issue we face is if the engine is to be moved in the future, where it will go for better display, and how it will get there. If you are in Skagway this summer, be sure to stop by the city museum to see it yourself.
