A little aside on Hallack & Howard. Their #6 Climax was sold to the Oregon Lumber Co., and was used at Bates OR until the Sumpter Valley was abandoned. We have what is likely it's boiler in our yard. Further, H&H bought out W.H.Eccles Lbr. Co. after they moved from Austin OR to Cascade ID. Included in the sale was our #3 Heisler. H#H operated it for one season, after which it was retired and the company went to truck logging. No. 3 was then placed in a shed at the mill and used for a standby boiler, but fortunately was not dismantled. We acquired it from Boise Cascade Corp. when the Cascade mill closed.
