The City of Santa Fe Water Dept is running major waterlines connecting all the wells in the Buckman area to the new water treatment plant near the airport. It just so happens that the original D&RG surveyors found the path of least resitance from the top of Buckman Mesa down to the Rio Grande, and the Water Dept is following the same line for the water mains!

What's happened in the last few months is that Old Buckman Road has been widened and re-aligned in some places to allow for the big construction equipment to get down there and to lay the new water pipes. At Milepost 388.3 when they widened the road they cleared out Pinons and Junipers that were blocking the veiw from the old road of this wood box culvert. Now that we know there are more things down along the old ROW that are intact we will begin walking inspections of the ROW in other places. Can't wait to see what else might be there!
