By Tuesday afternoon, the change to the sub-roadbed's grade was nearly complete,
but there was a LOT of dirt still to be hauled off.
Tom, the back-hoe operator, was a wizard at scraping away the excess material on
a very smooth and consistent slope:
Another storm snuck in late Tuesday night, and Wednesday morning was dark. 'That fellow' took a few final photos of #493 and the SN Engine House, and then headed for home to thaw out:
On his way out of town, he paused to take one final picture. The SN Engine House is at the far left, with the grading for the roadbed clearly visible. The D&SNG diseasel is busy shuttling a boxcar in the yard.
A new loading platform is also visible, just below the SN Engine House. If pile driver OB could be borrowed for a day or two, there might be a real job for it to do - pounding in some bracing for the end timbers ...
Thanks again, Fritz et al, for a very enjoyable visit, and congratulations on the excellent job you are doing!!
