The horseshoe over the door shows up in Mike Blazek's drawing of the engine house, and that drawing was used in the grant application to CHS for the funding, so that door frame has some definite significance. As part of our contract for the door work, the side door was not included and Loren did the door because Jerry Hoffer had that on his list of things to do when he had his accident and Loren took that part over for Jerry.
Mike Blazek was in town last week and measured what we call the "mule barn" that is across the street from our new building, next to the brick substation so there will be more Blazek drawings coming up.
One of the considerations in historic preservation is that modern intrusions on historic structures, like the power line and meter box, should reflect their point in time. I don't always agree with that, but the electric service gets moved at some point in this work as I understand it so that particular non-historic item moves away from the visual focus of the front doors, I hope.
