When I visited the WP&Y last year I picked up some under currents of concern about the future. A looming recession might cut into cruise ship business, and maybe now was not the right time to open up the line to Carcross. More recently there is word that John Bush (VP-Mechanical and ex-C&TS CMO) is leaving the White Pass, and the 40 will be heading back to Georgetown after only one year of a five year lease. And the 73 is out of service for repairs, so no steam (except maybe for the rotary next Spring), at least for awhile. And now the terrorist attacks are going to hurt the travel business more than the recession. Anyone have more info about what to expect on the White Pass? One spectacular railroad even with dismals.
