John Bush was the railroad escort on the recent Trains Unlimited Tours White Pass & Yukon steam special. He told our group that if the #73 is ready for service by next spring, that the #40 will be returned to Georgetown Loop.
The #40 was used on our excursion and we were told that we may have photographed the last run of the #40 on the White Pass.
Due to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11th and their impact on the travel business, 21 people did not make it for the steam special. Also there were few cruise ships in Skagway. But John said that during this summer, the railroad had been operating 20 to 30 trains per day to accomodate a large number of tourists.
