The October TRAINS NG Map has locates the Georgetown Loop but had nothing about any of the other C&S points of interest. That might make a great article for TRAINS to follow up on. I know there is action at Breckenridge, and west side of Alpine Tunnel, private work on the Como engine house, various stations on line, and other point of the old C&S besides the Georgetown Loop.
The Railfaning hobby has changed to more action on preservation for people who like to improve and save things. This is a much bigger story when you look across the country and see the number of hours of interest for the real hands-on hobby.
There should be big concern and review of why the "Eureka" had to run with such low ridership and study the reason of what happened. One suggests it just was the bad economy but there could be many other questions to answer:
Been there-done that?
The ticket cost?
The rain?
The schedule just before the National NG Model Convention?
A schedule too close to the #315 planed trips on the C&TS?
Advertising?
Authenticity?
A painted engine other than black?
A not original engine to the line?
The arrangement of stops and different photo locations?
The tightness of schedule when running between many other special trains.
Should a NRHS Rail Camp group be arranged to fill one train?
Should organized Rail fan clubs arrange group visits to ride the train?
All other idea might be welcome to aid the hobby and keep the rare trips happenings?
TRAINS Magazine might use their resources to develop some of the answers of where the hobby is heading and make a great article for the narrow gauge future.
