Bottom right of page 27 has fine Bill Moedinger, Jr photo of double header of RGS #20/455 on a trestle, and the caption under the photos says:"Rio Grade Souther was the last narrow gauge in southwestern Colorado" This line was torn up 1953 but connected to Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad on each end which ran unto 1968 and the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge is still running as a narrow gauge, and I believe it is still a common carrier per all the original charter rights. So what do I not see in that caption other than it being toatlly weird?
Who does the proof-read of this magazine? I know Jim Wrinn, the editor, is very familar with the narrow gauge of the San Juan country so how can this happen?
I must admit that the national gauge fever map has received a good edit.
Tiny Bethlehem branch of Profile & Franconia Notch also was SGed and abandoned. Sumpter Valley is missing. What about the existing abandoned 2' narrow gauge Baby Gage RR off the Death Valley RR. More later.
