Thanks for the input.
I still want to get out my photos to see if they
show enough track to tell it is a Y. I hope they
do as that will help me explain them to viewers.
Also, speaking of flangers, wasn't it a green crew
on the snow plow who failed to pull up the flangers at a frog that added the final straw to the fiasco at Cumbres in '58 ( I believe it was) when they had several crews stranded up there?
I remember a crew member telling me that actually they were fairly comfortable.
When they saw they were going to run out of coal
they drained the engines best they could and retreated to the cabooses. They had opened up a refrigerator car of meat and groceries and were
eating good. Plus the fact that they were drawing overtime pay. But the RR sent Copters up after them and spoiled the fun.
