I've really been avoiding these threads. That Gordon Sinclair message was originally aired when I was 2 yrs old and in todays terms it is incrediably offensive to Canadians and all NATO countries. It may have been true at one time, but not today.
To set the record straight. Canadians have:
1. Took all you incoming planes on that awful day even though they could been loaded with highjackers and destroyed our cities.
2. We have sent our moral support.
3. We have sent elite search and rescue workers to NYC to help.
4. We have sent money, supplies and relief aid.
5. Our RCMP is turning the country upside down with FULL co-operation with the FBI.
6. We have lost 200+ of our own people in the disaster.
7. Plus many, many, more things...
We have done a lot. We don't want any credit. We are quietly helping. It is our countries way. It is in our nature and culture. Even though this post is out of spirit.
One thing I am dissappointed with is that our government has yet to say we will fight side by side with you. Even though they haven't got their $#%% together, the entire country backs you and believes we should be there!
I apologize for posting this, but I have to vent a little. It just isn't right and Gee Dubya's speech on Wed didn't make one reference to Canada which just properagates the misinformation. And I apologize for using this forum for such and off topic post, but I hope that clears things up.
Craig Symington.
