Actually it was the Alamosa Division in 1920. Here is a list of the top 10 men in engine service by seniority.
1. John Law, born circa 1855, (4-8-1881e), 1920 residence: Santa Fe.
2. Frank L. Hindle, born circa 1862 in England, immigration date unknown. (11-1-1883f, 1-14-1889e). 1920 residence: Alamosa.
3. Michael Hurley, born circa 1864, (12-20-1889e) 1920 residence: Durango.
4.Fred Riddle, born circa 1866, (5-06-1884f, no engineer seniority), 1920 residence: Alamosa.
5. S (Sanford). J. Jacks. born circa 1858, (6-18-1890e), 1920 residence: Chama.
6. J. (John) A. Simons, born circa 1867 (1-1-1893e), 1920 residence: Alamosa.
7. Louis Johnson, born circa 1868 in Denmark, emmigrated to U.s. in 1887 (6-15-1893e), 1920 residence: Durango.
8. J. (James) J. Jones, born circa 1868, (11-29-1893e), 1920 residence: Durango.

In
1935 only Hindle and Hopper were left. Hopper was assistant train master and traveling engineer out of Grand Junction. He returned to the throttle shortly after the census. Hindle and Hopper were the only engineers with firemen seniority on this list although there is no notation that the other seven engineers were hired as engineers.
