Bill,
The photo is not a dupe. It's an original Kodachrome from my collection.
Russ, nice work on the photoshopping, I didn't have a lot of time to play with the image.
8 guys from the East got together in May of 1950 and took a three week vacation to Colorado. Among the things they did;
Rode the San Juan, and later chased it by automobile.
Chartered RGS Goose #4 for a round trip Ridgway to Pandora and back, the first ever charter of a "tourist version" Goose.
Rode the "Royal Gorge" behind steam, in a dome car.
Chased a three engine steam powered freight on Tennessee Pass, then chased the "California Zephyr" from Glenwood Canyon to Grand Jct.
Drove through the Black Canyon of the Gunnison on the recently abandoned narrow gauge roadbed, before the dam was finished and the canyon was flooded.
Rode the "Mountaineer" between Montrose and Grand Jct, behind steam.
Rode the "Yampa Valley Mail" Denver-Winter Park and return.
There's even more, but this is getting to be a long post.
Best regards,
Wayne Hills
