for revenge. The average citizen, whether celebrating the attacks or not, had no input to the decisions made and should not be made to bear the consequences. Howver, as Honest Bill's cruise missile attack on bin Laden proved, that kind of area attack does not guarantee that the real target will be hit. The US military understands its job entails the risk of death and a conventional air assault of bin Laden's facilities in overwhelming numbers to guarantee success is what is called for, with no prisoners taken.
We need a stern response but it needs to be applied to those responsible, not those who just happen to be in the area.
And we need to solve the underlying problem (the Israeli/Palestinian dispute) or this crap will continue with each new generation.
