I know this isn't explicitly related to narrow gauge or steam. But, this forum seems the most logical place to pose this question.
I'm curious what was being shipped on the Ridgway (former Ouray) Branch after it was standard gauged.
I've read references to mining activity that lasted into the late 1970's, but I've never seen any details. I've also never seen any track diagrams that showed spurs to mines in the area. Was ore trucked to the Ridgway Yard for loading? If so, where/what were the loading facilities? Was the former RGS yard area used in any way?
Any information would be appreciated to satisfy my random/idle curiosity this morning.
Thank you.
