C & C Narrow Gauge Then & Now photos #9

Here is a set of shots of the wreck that occured just below Montgomery Pass Summit on July 3, 1923. The Fireman on #5 was badly injured and later died. I had previously taken a "then & now" set of photos of this wreck from the top of the cut. This set is looking upgrade. The "then" photo came from page 90 of Beebe & Clegg's Steamcars to the Comstock. You can see the front end of a third locomotive in the background of the shot. The "now" photo was taken on June 13, 2009. George Sapp is the character in the now photo...
