Sirs,
I am looking at the locomotives original erecting card in front of me, the locomotive has always had a Nathan HNL top check manifold as listed in its "Extras and Specialties" sheet by Alco and it has always had an extended smoke box due to the fact that it has Type "A" superheaters. The sheet has not been moved back. The boiler has not been altered past how it was designed by Alco. I do thank everyone for their interest in the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad and in locomotive 799 but, it is the decision of the D&RGRR and the D&RGHF that the locomotive will be returned to service and will meet all minimum FRA requirements, now if that means we have to spend a little more dough to do it then that's fine as long as we end up with a reliable and safe machine.
Regards,
Mike Spera
