John,
During my employment with the "Old Loop" I spent quite a bit of time prowling about No. 9. (I lived in the water car at Silver Plume yard and it was a short walk..) The only thing that seemed original was a cab support casting underneath (if I remember correctly) the fireman's side. It was a little cryptic, because it had the letters (again, if I remember right) "D&P" or possibly "DSP." I am wondering if the support still exists on the engine. If so, it may very well be the only original piece there. I wish now I had photographed it or at least written down the casting's imprint.
Seems like I remember reading that the frames were replaced in the big rebuild, also.
