I will certainly look into the Lightjet (HP, I presume?) before I buy any newer equipment.
I don't think you'll be buying a Lightjet anytime soon! It's a large commercial printer made by a company called Cymbolic Sciences. Working in a color managed environment, you can provide print-ready files directly to a lab which uses the Lightjet (typically a professional lab - you won't find Lightjets at the corner drugstore, 1-Hour Photomat or Walmart) and have complete control, or you can work like you did in Cibachrome days, and trust to a good lab to prep for you.
The most common papers used are the Fuji Crystal Archive line, which are rated superior to the old standard, Cibachrome, for longevity. Other papers, including papers with a Cibachrome-like finish, are available. Basically anything RA-4 which the lab has calibrated and profiled for.
Good luck as you start down this brave new road! :-)
