Your surely right, and that photo on page 52 is right on the spot. I guess the rope broke so an engine did the job. Wonder why they could not use a cut of empties as "reach cars". Maybe it was run up there for some damm railfan who wanted that special photos, namely Fred Jute?
The photo on page 50 shows a rope or cable. I would say a power engine is in the shed under the end of the trestle as there is a lower pulley and a smoke stack above the roof of the shed (or is that a pole?). Couldn't the rope or cable be looped to attach to a locomotive to provide pull?
