Back in 1974, #12 and #14 were purchased from the Camino Cable & Northern, a defunct tourist railroad in California. They were moved to Central City, Colorado to operate on the Colorado Central. At the end of the line, there was a "missing" trestle. Since the Ashbys could not afford to rebuild the bridge, it was decided to build a line up against the mountain and bypass the bridge. This would result in a sharp curve....but one the shays could handle. The project never happened and they were soon moved to Silver Plume, mostly because they would be "historically correct" in Plume, because of the Argentine Central shays. The rest is history.
