Nalco was one of the two vendors who supplied our refinery with water treatment chemicals and we used to see their reps on a regular basis.
I got to talking with one and we got into how Nalco got its start with the steam locomotive industry. Not all Nalco balls were the same, the makeup was tailored for the particular environment of the customer.
Anyway, the rep said that there were 5 drums of Nalco balls in one of our warehouses and Nalco would be happy to make a donation if I knew of a good home. I arranged for them to go up to Portola for the Clover Valley Lbr. Co. 2-6-2 #8 and transported them myself in my 3/4 ton Suburban. Glad I had a bigger vehicle as the weight was over 1500 lbs.
