The third engine is the 81, a 2-8-0 built in 1917 (the newest of the three). Mark Bassett claims it will be returned to service eventually, and I hope he is right. All it takes is money, skill, hard work and time. But the 93 and 40 need to be delt with first, as well as the many other challenges associated with maintaining a complex of facilities as large as the East Ely yard and shop. They have the steam derrick up and working, and maybe someday the rotary will make it into the long line of things that can be done. Lotsa good stuff. They could sure use a volunteer program like the C&TS has.
