Just like my son Mark just stated, I just found over 60 slides I shot of 464 under restoration at Knott's. After I shot the delivery photos of 464 arriving at Knott's, I used to visit the shop almost every week to shoot the progress of the restoration. 464 was in sorry shape when she arrived and was missing a lot of parts especially on the backhead and cab. The number board had been stolen and the wood shop at Knott's created another one. I don't know if a pattern was ever made and one was cast or if she is still running around with a wood replica number board. When 464 was completed, I received an invitation as a quest for the maiden run from the Knott Family and Mike Refsnyder who was in charge of the railroad at the time. The run was done after hours and the quests were treated to champagne, suds and other treats. I spent that night with a few others riding the pilot of 464 as she traveled through the park. Looking back, the lawyers and Liability Department would have fits if that occured today. I quess I was just dumb and young and was having the thrill of my life. I will also be posting shots of 464 at that event. Ted
