From the news in the US about jobs being lost and reports that Latinos returning south to their homes where their government social programs are too small and/or corrupt that people might not be able to survive without a job or other income, it might be that unemployed thieves are just trying to find ways to feed their families and they do not care about any intrinsic historical value. (how's that for a single sentence?)
I was wondering about the theft that is more frequent of railroad museums and even the theft of East Broad Top rail. I am wondering if this is a symptom of the general economic problems caused by a depression/recession.
Food for thought. I am not sure what I would do if I had no unemployment and no self employed business and had to feed my family. I'm glad I do not have to face that problem yet.
