The C&TS is not only history, it is a fascinating story full of interesting, colorful and controversial people. All you need to do is read a few of Bob Keller's posts, not to mention some of Coker's rebuttles, and it's not only railroading, it's sex and whiskey too. I figure it could be the first railway history with a nude foldout center spread. And you could go back a bit further and add in some of Bob Richardson's ascerbic comments about Rio Grande management. Not to mention, on the other side of that argument, DRGW's Mountain Man John Norwood. Lot's of fascinating folks...and that includes modern guys like Casias, Knoob, Wright, and Ranger, to only mention a few.
Spencer Wilson is working on a history of the C&TS. Spencer is a VERY capable historian who was part of the process, and knows the story. My role is to help collect Keller's recollections, and maybe a few Coker-isms, and try to encourage Spencer to add some color commentary to his scholarly work.
I would encourage anyone out there with historic info about the C&TS, including color commentary, to send it to the Friends to go into the archives.
