The point I was trying to make regarding the TSB report was neither the C&TS, D&S or the WP&Y had the hopper capacity stenciled on the car side. I have seen photos of the C&TS ballast loads in the former EBT hoppers this summer in Chama nearly full to the top of the car side. The TSB report sited 2,840 Lbs per cubic yard as the weight for rock ballast. I don't have the exact cubic capacity for the ex-EBT 3 bay hopper cars but I estimate it to be under 40 cubic yards. I believe these cars were originally rated for 70,000 lbs. maximum weight. Either my math is seriously off or these cars are being overloaded big time....
