The team that refurbished and painted 268 wanted to remove the diamond stack, but the straight stack had the top edge cut off years ago and they had no easy way to fix that, so they left it on.

I wrote a history of 268 for the Rio Grande Modeling & Historical Society's Prospector magazine in 2003. It is available from the Society at:
