I've always been very careful (the word is "paranoid") about that possibility. Of course when I lived in Gunnison (1981-86) I used to
keep at least the following in the trunk of my '69 Mercury Montery(Big
Blue Land Yacht) at all times:
Spade
Axe
Come-along
Chains
Snow shovel
Pick
Bow saw

(re)Built a lot of road for the county & the USFS back in those days. Drove past a lot of stuck 4x4's too. (we at least had brains enough to stay *on* the road, not out in the meadow/bog/bottomless pit!)

hank, who still has all the same tools out in the garage, just in case I get to move back (but my DDW totaled the Merc in Montana in '86)
