Wow! How many time I heard those words. Bob was so smooth, and likeable, in a few minutes after hearing the words you were won over. At the end of the phone call, not only were you on board with Bob, but you were more than likely the team leader! There just wasn't anything we wouldn't do for Bob, he was just that kind of guy. As Brian and Kim said, what Bob wanted was always good for the railroad, so how could you say no?
When we first got the Rogers, it was yellow, rust, and primer and looked awful. Bob had a vision of cleaning it up and making it work again, so away we went. Valve job, rewiring, tuneup, fixing the brakes, etc, I brought a hand brake out donated by OERM and hooked it up. The list seemed to go on forever, but none of us wanted to let Bob down.
When we were going to paint it, it was so windy, we had to cancel, Bob understood, but was sad it wouldn't be finished. When Joanie and I stopped by the yard after dinner, the wind had died, so we got started! Bob and Mona stopped by after dinner to check on things in the yard and Bob was almost walking on air over to us, he was so excited! When we finished, it was blacker than the inside of a cow out, we were covered in paint, and LOVED EVERY minute!
