Bob Tully

Bob Tully, who was a director of the Colorado R/R Museum and was the projects chairman for the Friends of the C&TS died this morning after a long battle with cancer.

I cannot put in words what this man means to me. He was a friend, an advocate, a great guy to just hang out with. He worked tirelessly in helping perserve the railroad history of Colorado and New Mexico for future generations.

While many of us do nothing more than chat on the internet, Bob would be working almost everyday of the year in planing what was to be done each year as the Friends of the Cumbres and Toltec gathered in New Mexico and Colorado to do much needed projects to preserve the rich history of the railway. He supported the workers by providing materials, equipment, and much needed information, so each work session would run smoothly.

Not only did he lead in the planing, he was work session leader for at least two work sessions each year. If you can imagine leading up to 135 volunteers, many of whom had no related experience (but a lot of enthusiasm), and guiding all of them along to work safetly and to accomplish the amount of work that happened each year -- well it is nothing short of amazing!

Bob was honored last year by having the new parlor car caboose named after him in recognition of almost two decades of tireless service in supporting the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad.

So here's to you Bob, boy are we going to miss you! Hope you have all green signals. John
