(1) As previously predicted here on the NGDF, the Sumpter Valley machine works is being scapegoated:
The large 1203 diesel engine arrived from Oregon in time for opening weekend, but part of the needed rebuilding work was incomplete.
Joseph Bell of the Colorado Historical Society would not discuss details about why the work was not complete but said the society is in discussions with the Oregon supplier. Railstar is expecting the remaining parts this week to finish work on the 1203, and general manager Ron Trottier said he hopes the engine will hit the tracks next week.
(2) The Form 4 for #12 has still not been completed, so they are now saying that steam will not be back until August. Three weeks ago, they were telling the paper that steam would not be back "until at least July".
