Hello,
My family and I rode it in 2002. The open air enginehouse and yard facility was intersting. Unforunately at that time only the diesel was operating. I was disappointed in that they played Japanese music on the sound system and did NOT mention one piece of information about the current railroad or the island's railroad history on the 2002 train ride. I hope that has changed since then. I learned A LOT MORE information on Hawaii's railroads from the static railroad depot musuem on the Big Island (Which I recommend to any railfan who visits the Big Island).
A portion of the ride near some fields and near a golf course, but some of the ride is next to the busy main four lane highway. My wife and I plan to go back to Hawaii some day and I would like to ride the new tourist train on Kauai. It seems like it would be a much more enjoyable ride.
Sincerely,
Andy
