I have made, and am still making decals for the SVRy because almost nothing existed that I could use. I gave up early on in finding a font set that matched any of the SVRy lettering and associated logging lines. Like others have posted here I'm sure it was drawn and painted by the shop crew or a local painter/artist.

I think what George may have been suggesting is to make your own lettering from photos. This what I have had to do. With my digital camera, and before that a film camera and scanner, I have taken gazillions of photos. After digitizing them I use Coreldraw (there are other graphics programs that probably work equally as well) to retrace them on screen. This not an exact science since digital photos contain many bits of info and tracing is a best fit approach. However, I have been able to create look alike lettering, which when reduced to HOn3, Sn3 or even 1:20.3 scale look so close I've not heard anyone complain.

In some cases Railroad Roman was almost, but not quite the same as the lettering I needed. In this case I started with the Roman characters, converted them to curves (vector format) and modified them to my need. This can save a lot of redrawing. You will have a set of images when done, not a font set. But, if you want the real thing sometimes you have to work for it. I've probably spent hundreds if not thousands of hours creating characters or modifying existing fonts.
