Ola, senor Curmdugeon del Norte -
Thanks for letting us know about Robin's links to Bob Keller's posts on "The Goat". IMHO, the "The Goat" loads slower and is harder to navigate than the NGDF, but these stories are definitely worth reading, both for their history and their humor.
There's one of Bob's posts that I do question, however:
I was among the worker-bees when the first C&TS train arrived in Chama on Labor Day weekend, 2000. I remember only a very short train, half-a-dozen cars at most - not 35 or so as described by Bob - pulled by #483, and
NO dead engines in the consist.
Ernie Robart is currently searching for some of his photos of this first train, for use in Volume 2 of the "Help Save #483" screen saver, which should shed some light on this. Meanwhile, here's a re-post of a couple of mine which, unfortunately, do not show the whole train. Personally, I prefer the dark-green boiler jackets, etc., to this "painted Lady / Stollywood Harlette" movie getup.
