I knew Bob Keller well, in the mid-1970's when I co-produced and did much of the creative on our film, "Rails Across the Summit".
Bob was a serious manager and railroader. He gave us great cooperation, except to the point of running special trains for the filming. We understood that completely, and did not make that request. Hell, Bob let us weld a bracket on the front pilot beam of the engine, and another under the forward side of the cab, to mount remote control cameras.
Bob Keller was a highly creative and well educated man, and from what I knew, a very competent operator of the C&TS.
His image and voice are in a major scene, filmed in Chama, as the train departs Eastbound, in "Rails".
Rest in peace, Bob...and thanks for helping us make "Rails Across the Summit" an award winning film, representing the U.S.A.in internation motion picture competition. You are missed dear friend.
