Recently someone asked on this forum about Bob Keller. Sadly, I learned today that Bob passed away during a hernia operation in May 2007. I believe he was living with his daughter in or near Portland, Oregon, at the time. As most of you know, Bob had been a professor of mechanical engineering at Stanford, worked for Hewlitt-Packard for a short time, then founded Scenic Railways, the first operator of the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad. I first met Bob as one of his students at Stanford and later joined him as a founder of Scenic Railways. He was a man of many exceptional skills and talents. He, is in large part, responsible for moving the Cumbres and Toltec from the preservation phase to operational/business phase. We all owe him much gratitude for efforts to save this treasure.
