Both of you gentlemen are assuming something in your comments - that I was trying to make this look authentically backdated. That's a fun game to play, but it wasn't what I was after here. In fact, if you've been to the museum, you know that that's a very difficult trick to pull off.
All I was really trying to do was to make an appealing BW image of the CRRM's Goose operating at the CRRM. Part of it's probably the BW aspect. I don't generally do BW because I want to give things a period look, but because sometimes what appeals in a scene isn't about color (in fact, color can be a distraction) but about tone, contrast, shape and texture.
Most of what you mention doesn't bother me, nor detract from what I wanted the image to be. As previously mentioned, the badge does bother me a bit, but that's because it's so jarring and obvious, and I'll also admit I don't much care for the fan the museum uses, but not because I think it ruins the photograph. In any case, it's what they use, so there it is. And power poles. Well, in an environment like this, I expect 'em to be there, and as long as they're not intruding on the main elements of the image, they don't bother me.
But the image still doesn't work. :-)
