Wow, what a great composition! Beautiful leaves, sky, colorful boxcar & reefer, bridge behind, everything except light on the side of the train ... That's why those Hollywood guys carry those huge reflectors around. Too bad you didn't have a couple of big flashbulbs to shoot off for fill light.

Have you tried masking off the engine & train from the rest of a scanned copy of the photo and brightening them a few clicks?
