The only rumors I've heard around Durango and the railroad are those pertaining to grants and such. I heard that the railroad was pursuing a grant with the Fort Lewis College Historical Society. That is probably the only way they could get one being that they are not a 501(c)(3) entity. I heard that the restoration would be to full operational status. The tank was supposed to be redone last year(2000), but I imagine the efforts and expenditures related to the "rebirth" of 486 kind of put it on the back burner. Hopefully it gets some attention soon. We would all love to see it back in service as an operational water tank.
